Timpins Update

It has been over a year since I released my Timpins into the wild. For those that have not officially been initiated, last year I designed a limited-edition series of pins inspired by Tim Horton’s iconic donut hole, the Timbit. The pins were part of a group exhibition organized by Motherbrand for the 2007 Come Up to My Room design event at Toronto’s Gladstone Hotel. Along with other local designers, I created my own design “exploring the social and cultural function of souvenirs”. Enter the Timpin.

The initial reaction was great. The process of putting one of my ideas into production and into the public was very rewarding. I was interviewed by MocoLoco and my Timpins were included by one of their editors in the top 5 products of 2007. I have also received a number of positive reviews from fellow bloggers. I have also been asked to participate in a new book project focusing on revisiting the idea of souvenirs. Overall, the Timpins project has been filled with learning curves and very rewarding.

The Timpins are now available for sale at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto and online via The Souvenir Shop. A special thanks to Becky for all her help and hard work.
